3 Tips to get better images of your Food!

You have been hearing it everywhere: “Good quality images are essential for a food business”

but…. You might be thinking : “I do not have the budget to spend in a food photographer”

But I must remind you that hiring a photographer NOT a waste of money but a GOOD investment.

My aim here is to help YOU succeed in your business!!

So grab a coffee and seat comfortable, we are about to start!!

Here are my top three tips about LIGHT for taking great food photographies :

No 1: Natural Light

Light can literally make or destroy an image.

Daylight is perfect for food photography, it will enhance the textures and colours of your dish.

So, next time you try to shoot your dish, move near a window or door with nice amount of light coming through.

No 2: Hard Light

Be careful with direct sunlight. It can create an undesired effect, such as sharp edge shadows (abrupt transition between light and dark)

If this is not the effect that you are looking for, here you have some options:

1- find another spot away from the light source

2- use a diffuser or simply use a thin white curtain for softer shadows.

Tip: Remember that a balance of light and shadow create a more interesting images.

No 3: Turn OFF all artificial lights

Not every light is the same and there are factors that change how we see it. The different light sources has a temperature value and a colour (warm or cool)

So in order to not create a macedonia of lights, next time, follow this advice and turn OFF your artificial lights. You will get much better results!

Light is a Hugh subject in photography!

We will keep taking about it, in the mean while try to observe the different lights you have around.

Enjoy your shootings!
